We might’ve found the latest MCU development to leave the fandom blindsided, going by a new rumor doing the rounds. For the longest time, Marvel lovers have been patiently (or maybe not so patiently) awaiting the arrival of Galactus in the franchise. With the Fantastic Four reboot in development, the coming of the world-devouring deity is likely just around the corner. And, sure enough, it’s now being claimed that someone is in talks to land the part. Someone we definitely weren’t expecting.

According to popular Twitter scooper MyTimeToShineHello, none other than Shrek and Zorro icon Antonio Banderas is preparing to sign a deal with Marvel Studios to portray Silver Surfer’s purple planet-munching boss.

As you’d expect, the mere suggestion that Puss in Boots himself could be our new Galactus is blowing folks’ minds. But, thankfully, in a good way.

For others, though, they couldn’t care less who actually plays Galactus, just that he’s actually used well in the movies and we don’t get a repeat of the space cloud from Fox’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Interesting but I highkey don’t want FF going up against Galactus in their first movie. MCU has a habit of giving villians 5 minutes of screen time then killing them off in the end.

While we still have no idea how exactly Marvel will bring Galactus to life — will they go for the classic Jack Kirby design or maybe even switch to the Ultimate universe’s Gah Lak Tus? — if this rumor’s to be believed, we can expect him to speak with the silky, Spanish-accented tones of Antonio Banderas.

Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on Feb. 14, 2025.
